The start of April brings the SDX Bloggers and Fashionistas evening.

Here at FFMS, we’re big believers in supporting local creative brands and businesses, which is why we were so excited to attend the SDX Bloggers and Fashionistas evening on 1st April and have another peek at the exciting wares from designers new and old.

Having launched their brand spanking new SDX Loft area back in February, which you can read about in our second issue here, the Bloggers and Fashionistas event gave customers a second chance to peruse some of the wonderful collections exclusive to the store, and chat with the talented resident fashion designers about their work.

Fashion intern, Ruth MacGilp, who helped arrange the SDX event, said, “The purpose of the SDX fashion blogger event was to invite fashionistas and creatives from Edinburgh and beyond down to our store to preview new collections from our resident designers, hear a little more about our not-for-profit design collective and ongoing projects and of course take lots of snaps for their own blog content.”

Helen from Wardrobe Conversations who was papped at the event trying on some gorgeous headwear from local designer Kitsch Me Vintage, who said “The blogger event (is) an excellent introduction to the space, as well as to the work of some amazing new designers. What’s great about the Scottish Design Exchange is that they can give you information about all the different designers they work with, which makes the shopping experience much more personal. It was so much fun trying on all the pieces and getting the chance to catch up with some awesome bloggers.”

Guests were treated to gift bags overflowing with goodies courtesy of Tunnocks and Debenhams, and an open bar thanks to Glasshouse Events, with the mellow acoustic tunes from Jack Hinks providing a chilled backdrop to a fun evening of networking and rummaging.

“The event was a great success” Ruth said “And we look forward to hosting more nights like this, alongside our regular Meet The Makers days, workshops and fashion shows.”
